Humans are also animals that require food regularly to keep the body working at all times. If the food consumed is not enough or is too much it can cause deficiency or obesity depending on the quantity taken.

In the last two centuries, after a lot of research, safety of food has been termed as one of the most important factors in keeping the food available safe and disease free.  Due to increase in the population of the human kind and increase in the number of packaged products, it has become imperative for food to be kept safe and clean.

Understanding the Necessity

Before understanding about food safety, we need to understand the necessity of such a prerequisite. Food safety is required mainly to keep food, disease free. A number of Foodborne diseases are dangerous. If food is not kept neatly and at the time of preparation (in the case of processed foods), if the components are not cleaned properly, all sorts of organisms can grow and flourish in the body. One of the biggest examples of such an instance is the tapeworm.  Tapeworm is a very hardy parasite. If Pig (for e.g.) is not cooked properly then the Tapeworm in the worm form might die but larvae that are enclosed in the cyst can escape and enter the digestive system. Even if the body is able to defend it against the Tapeworm, the cysts slip through the pores in the intestine, enter the blood stream and start growing in the different parts of the body and if it affects the brain, that can be a major problem which can lead to death.

Food safety also concerns itself to find the best way to store the food condiments, making sure that bacteria, fungi or rodents (rats) can find their way to the food. One should keep track of the Best before’s, last date, best sold before and notices like that. The reason is that if this slips by then the food that one might be buying maybe spoiled or rotten or if not going to that stage where these things could happen.
