Food Safe Courses in Kelowna
In Kelowna (and throughout British Columbia), food safety training courses are collectively called FOODSAFE classes. FOODSAFE training is offered in two levels, the first for front-line service workers and the second for management staff. FOODSAFE classes focus on the proper skills and concepts in food safety – covering storage, preparation, service, and work safety.
- Level 1 is skill-oriented, because it is targeted towards members of the staff who handle food directly (front-line workers). It runs for 8 hours and costs $110.
- Level 2 is planning-oriented, because it is targeted towards members of the staff who are responsible for management (owners, managers, etc.). It runs for 12 hours and costs $165.
Both levels are available in the following set-ups: classroom, online (through a virtual classroom), and by correspondence. Training in FOODSAFE by correspondence costs cheaper ($85), because it doesn’t involve typical classroom training. It is ideal for students who are working and do not have time for regular classes, since training by correspondence is completed at your own pace in six months; additional two months available at an additional cost of $25.
